Model Romee Strijd is engaged to marry her longtime boyfriend Laurens van Leeuwen.
The Dutch catwalk beauty announced the happy news by sharing a series of photos from the proposal on Instagram on Tuesday alongside the caption, "I said YES" with ring and heart emojis. They got engaged during their holiday in Switzerland as part of their 12th-anniversary celebrations.
Laurens shared selfies of them after the proposal, showing Romee proudly displaying her engagement ring for the camera. He added the caption, "Let’s grow old(er) together @romeestrijd."
He revealed that he got down one knee and popped the question while they were enjoying a picnic on the snow-topped Jungfrau mountain in the Swiss Alps. A video of the picnic set-up shows that he and Romee walked up a route lined with flower petals and lanterns to a seated area covered in throws. They sat beside a table featuring a vase of red roses, a bottle of Champagne in an ice bucket and a variety of snacks.
In the comments, the former Victoria's Secret model received messages from her fellow fashion stars.
"Omgggg yay!!! Congratulations my faves !!!! Love you both," Shanina Shaik wrote, while Taylor Hill simply commented, "MY HEART," with a series of crying and heart emojis, and Jasmine Tookes posted, "LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! So happy for you both."
Lily Aldridge, Sara Sampaio, Elsa Hosk, Helena Christensen and Chiara Ferragni also congratulated the couple.
Romee, 26, has been dating Laurens since 2010. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Mint, in December 2020.
