Charlize Theron has never forgotten a bizarre kissing experience on a first date decades ago.
The Bombshell star looked back on the odd smooch during a sit-down with Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday (15Jan20), in which she recalled a seemingly enjoyable evening out that took a very strange turn.
“I went on a date in my 20s with this guy, who was really super handsome," she shared. "I was, like, really into it. He picked me up for dinner, we had dinner. It was lovely. I was like, ‘This is going really well’,” she remembered, adding that the guy drove her home and she “kind of signaled that I was in for a kiss if he wanted to.”
They proceeded to have a “really good” kiss, she said, before, “He pulled away and whispered, ‘Make out with my nose.'"
The 44 year old cried with laughter as she relived the incident, and noted, “I swear on my life, I’ve never forgotten it because I’ve yet to meet another person who likes to have somebody make out with their nose. I’ve never met another person who wants to do that.”
These days, Theron is focused less on romance, more on her two adopted children, August and Jackson, who are fully engaged in mum's very busy award season, as she racks up nominations for her role as U.S. TV anchor Megyn Kelly in Bombshell.
"It's been a thrilling couple of weeks," Charlize admitted. "I was nominated for a Golden Globe. I was nominated for a Critics Choice... Spoiler alert: I didn't win," she said, before revealing the kids were "a mixture of super sad and also kind of angry, like, 'You didn't win?!' They were upset."
But they're excited for her new Oscar nomination for Best Actress for the drama.
"They're just like, 'Will you win this time?' And I said, 'You know, listen, there's a good shot I'm probably not going to win,'" she said. "And my oldest just went, 'Well, this sounds like a waste of time, mum.'"
