Who’s ready to get the party started this Canada Day?! We know we are!

From city-wide celebrations to at-home barbecues with friends and family… There are endless opportunities for Canadians and Montrealers to enjoy the country’s 155th birthday this year. For those looking to get out and celebrate with the rest of the city, here are some local events happening in Montreal that you can attend on Friday, July 1:

OLD PORT OF MONTREAL

The Old Port of Montreal is definitely going to be the place to be this Canada Day weekend… If you’re a fan of crowds, of course. Starting at 1pm, Montrealers are welcome to watch the opening ceremony with a 21-gun salute accompanied by the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP officers. Throughout the rest of the day, families can participate in face painting, temporary tattooing, Parks Canada games, and so on. The night will come to a close with a beautiful fireworks display happening at 9:45pm.

POINTE-CLAIRE

Starting at 2pm, Canada Day celebrations will kick off at Alexandre-Bourgeau Park (2 Cartier Ave.) with free swimming, live music, inflatable structures, face painting, and so much more. Throughout the course of the day, families will have the opportunity to experience activities such as a circus workshop, magic, and roaming animation. The night will finish off with music from Groove Affair and a firework show by Lake Saint-Louis.

LAVAL

Locals are invited to celebrate the country’s 155th birthday at the Centre de la nature de Laval on July 1st. Complete with an obstacle course, artistic workshop, face painting, inflatable structures, food trucks and animated games, the whole family is guaranteed to have a blast! There will also be an opportunity to meet Canadian Armed Forces and to taste the traditional Canada Day cake. The night will come to an end with live music from Paul Kunigis and QW4RTZ… and, of course, fireworks!
