Moving season is officially here, and we want to give YOU some of the best tips and tricks to help you get ready for the big day.

We all know just how stressful, tiring, and expensive moving can be. While hiring movers can make you breathe a little easier, that option isn’t always the most ideal or realistic… Just as assuming you can pack up your entire house in one night. We know you’re courageous, but it’s always better to plan ahead.

If you’re looking for ways to make your moving experience a lot more efficient, check out our suggestions below:

PLAN YOUR METHOD OF TRANSPORT AHEAD OF TIME

While booking a U-Haul truck at this point in the game seems a little unrealistic, you might want to reach out to some generous friends and family that have big cars to help you move your belongings. If you’re lucky enough to have a few days to move your boxes from point A to point B, taking small trips can help you slowly progress throughout the week.

Whether you transport your stuff by truck or car, you’ll want to make sure you pack your stuff in the most convenient way possible to avoid damages.

GET RID OF WHAT NO LONGER SERVES YOU

Looking for a way to get rid of that hideous piece of furniture you no longer need? Don’t throw it in the trash, think of donating or selling your item! Before your big move, take the time to go through your belongings and set aside the items you no longer need, but can be useful to someone else… The amount of useful items that go to waste on Moving Day would surprise you.

ORGANIZE YOUR BOXES BY ROOM

When packing away your household items, you’ll want to make sure that you pack smart! Categorize each box by room. This will save you so much time when it comes to unpacking… And save many headaches from wondering where certain items are placed.

BORROW BOXES, DON’T BUY THEM

Think green when packing your belongings. Instead of purchasing brand new boxes for the big day, consider visiting your local grocery or home improvement store to see if they have spares that they plan to toss. These can be especially helpful as the size of the boxes are usually big enough to fit large items like cushions or bedsheets.

PICK UP YOUR MOVING DAY MUNCHIES AHEAD OF TIME

Let’s face it. You’ve got a long day ahead of you. Make sure to plan what food you’ll be eating throughout the day and make sure to have water readily available. This long weekend is expected to be a real hot one, so it is crucial that you stay hydrated.

Wishing you all a safe, easy, and headache-less moving day!
