Queen Elizabeth II is known for her elegance, class, and well, preferred taste in food…
According to her former private chef of 15 years, Darren McGrady, is sharing all of the fun and exciting details of what Her Majesty The Queen absolutely adored snacking on almost every day since her childhood.
When it comes to high teatime, it was almost a 100% guarantee that the cooking staff at Buckingham Palace would prepare tasty jam sandwiches for the Queen herself. The secret that makes this simple meal so elegant? Freshly picked berries are used to make the jam, applied with butter on bread cut into small circles, the same size as an old British penny.
Talk about splendid!
While jam sandwiches were her automatic go-to when it came to snacking, Her Majesty wa also very fond of scones (topped with jam), fresh berries, and gin (of course) mixed with lemonade or Sprite.
So, if you’re looking to host an event that would even impress the Royal Family themselves, we recommend giving some of these high teatime snacks and drinks a try.
