Lizzo has spoken out against online trolls who criticise her body shape.

In a video posted to Instagram over the weekend, the About Damn Time singer clapped back at negative comments she's received about her figure.

"The discourse around bodies is officially tired," Lizzo began. "I have seen comments go from, 'Oh my gosh, I liked you when you were thick, why'd you lose weight?' to 'Oh my gosh, why'd you get a BBL (Brazilian butt lift, cosmetic procedure)? I liked your body before,' to 'Oh my gosh, you're so big. You need to lose weight, but for your health,' to 'Oh my gosh, you're so little, you need to get a*s or t**ties or something,' to, 'Oh my gosh, why did she get all that work done? It's just too much work.'"

She then asked, "Are we OK? Do you see the delusion?"

Standing in front of a beachside setting, the superstar argued that artists don't exist to be judged for their bodies.

"Do we realise that artists are not here to fit into your beauty standards?" the 34-year-old questioned. "Artists are here to make art. And this body is art. And I'm gonna do whatever I want with this body."

Lizzo concluded her video by noting that she wished commenting "cost money" so that social media users could "see how much time we are f**king wasting on the wrong thing".

In the video's caption, she wrote that then "maybe people would think before they type".
