Is the flip-phone making a return?

Everything has a way of coming back, right? We all saw the trends of vinyl records, low-waisted jeans and disposable cameras return. This time around, flip-phones are re-entering the game.

Gen-Z's are the ones to blame for the comeback of this device, after its recent growing popularity on TikTok. But why would this age group turn to this older form of technology?

For one, the 2000's aesthetic comeback could be to blame. The #y2k hashtag alone on TikTok has over 13 billion views!

Another reason could be this age group's need to disconnect. Gen-Z's and Millenials were the first to grow up with social media always by their sides. Flip-phones, in a way, allow them to steer away from social media and use their mobile phones for what they were actually meant to do: text and call.

And, of course, we can't forget the fact that flip-phones provide younger generations with that oh-so-wanted vintage aesthetic they constantly crave. After polaroid, film and digital cameras, the flip-phone is the most recent device that adds a "vintage" and spontaneous effect to the pictures taken.

What can we say, younger generations want to return to older ways! Would you go back to using a flip-phone?
