Michelle Obama is an absolute icon. She's done so many things for Black and female representation, we wouldn't even know where to start! Here are just a few of the things that Michelle has accomplished throughout the years:
- She became the first African-American First Lady...ever!
Michelle Obama became none other than the first African-American First Lady when her husband, Barack Obama, became President of the United States on January 20, 2009. In other words, she really marked history, and this was a game-changer for American politics.

2. She's an advocate for young girls
In 2016, Michelle Obama launched 'Let Girls Learn', a " U.S. government initiative aimed at helping adolescent girls attain a quality education that empowers them to reach their full potential."

3. TIME 100 Most Influential Women
On top of all her accomplishments, Michelle Obama became one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential Women in 2008. "Expanding the American Dream" was written on the cover, along with Michelle Obama's portrait.

4. She's a fashion and beauty icon!
Michelle Obama serves politics- and looks. Throughout her time in the White House, the First Lady was known for supporting American Designers and breaking the rules of 'political style'. More recently, was seen with long, lucious braids, something she said she 'couldn't wear' during her time at the White House. "I did not wear braids. (...) We had to ease up on the people," she recently said in an interview.
