Teletoon is officially ending after more than 25 years of TV

Angela Anaconda, Braceface, Donkey Kong Country, 6teen...we can thank the one and only Teletoon channel for all these iconic Canadian TV shows. Sadly, the well-known TV channel will officially end after more than 25 years...

Corus Entertainment announced earlier this week that Teletoon will soon cease to exist. Founded in 1997, the TV channel wishes to steer away from broadcasting and rather adopt streaming instead.

'Cartoon Network' will be taking over the channel later next month, turning it into a new streaming service called 'Boomerang'.

Boomerang's lineup of shows will include The Tom & Jerry Show, The Powerpuff Girls, Total Drama Island, and more.

"We will usher Cartoon Network into a new stage of hilarious comedy and edge-of-your-seat action — all while keeping the Teletoon legacy alive in the digital space,” said Corus SVP, Jennifer Abrams, in an interview.
