Heads up if you’re driving in or around Montreal this weekend: a few roads will be closed for the 2026 UCI Road World Championships.
That’s right, this weekend brings the finale of the event to Montreal, so you’ll definitely want to look for alternative routes.
Not only will there be two races—one on Saturday and another on Sunday—but there will also be huge crowds out for them.
Both races will end at the foot of Mount Royal on Parc Avenue, between Des Pins and Mont-Royal avenues.
Closures on Atwater Avenue, Docteur-Penfield Avenue, and Côte-des-Neiges Road will take place between Docteur-Penfield and Remembrance, alongside the punishing Camillien-Houde climb and Côte de Polytechnique.
All in all, there will be closures throughout Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Outremont, Ville-Marie, Le Sud-Ouest, Verdun, Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, and Westmount.
The city is encouraging people to take the Métro or the REM instead of buses or driving.
