Those affected by allergy season will know...spring comes with its undesired wave of pollen in the air. Though it comes every year, those affected by allergy season are never really truly prepared for what's about to hit them.

To top it off, this year's allergy season will be a bit different.

To remind you, allergy season usually follows a pattern of pollen in the spring, grass in the summer and ragweed in the fall. As the month of April will probably be colder than usual, therefore defrosting slower than usual, any pollen resurfacing might come with a delay. This means Canadians might be hit with a 2 for 1 special, if you will. In other words, both pollen and grass allergies might hit allergy sufferers all at once.

According to Dr. Anne Ellis, president of the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, approximately 1 in 4 Canadians are affected by seasonal allergies. "But with the sudden turnaround to summer-like warmth in May, we could get a really bad allergy season in some areas because all types of pollen will be peaking at once from trees, grasses and flowers," she said in an interview.

Get your tissues and eye drops out Montreal, this allergy season will be a hefty one!
