On Earth Day, it's important to look back at the steps we're doing to protect our planet. From using public transport, to reducing electricity and all the way to abandoning single-use plastics, there is a multitude of things we can do every day to keep our planet healthy and pollution-free.
Plus, Montrealers now have the advantage of saying they live in the most sustainable city in North America! Yep, that's right! Montreal was recently given this title by the Global Sustainability Destinations Index at the end of last year.

But that's not all! Montreal was also ranked third among some of the largest cities in the world such as Paris, Berlin, and Sydney! Way to go, Montreal!
There are many things that lead to believe this ranking was awarded to our beloved city. In its 2016-2020 sustainability plan, Montreal's plan put in place collective actions to reach sustainability, such as:
- Encouraging the use of public transportation
- Organize more eco-responible / zero-waste events
- Further develop local cultures
- Put in place a circular economy
- Electrify and optimize Montreal's transportation methods
- ...and more!
As we head into Earth Day, Montreal's mayor wishes to remind everyone that Montreal needs to "keep working together to protect our planet and offer the next generation a greener and more sustainable future!"
