The famous restaurant has officially closed its doors after 50 years of service. Known to serve some of the best smoked meat in town, this news left Montrealers mourning (including members of the Parliament...)
"Ouch. Surprised at how much this hurts. An end to decades of The. Best. Smoked. Meat. In. Montreal," said Prime Minster Justin Trudeau in a Tweet yesterday following the announcement.
Written by Frederic Serre, a loyal customer, yesterday was "a very emotional day for all of us. Some employees were working there for 35 plus years," according to The Main's manager. High food costs and labour costs are suspected to be the principal reason behind the unfortunate restaurant's closing.
