Earlier this month, The Weeknd announced the current album he is working on will most probably be his last. After his new music, the 'Starboy' icon is looking to reinvent himself as an artist.

"I'm going through a cathartic path right now," the artist revealed in a recent interview with W Magazine. "It's getting to a place and a time where I'm getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter. I'll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I'm definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn."

Earlier this week, the 'Blinding Lights' singer officially changed his Instagram name to his birth name, Abel Tesfaye. Given this, is it safe to say that this is The Weeknd's 'Last hurrah' as an artist?

"Not ready to say goodbye to The Weeknd but Im excited for whatever is in store… Abel Tesfaye era."

"Goodbye The Weeknd…Abel Tesfaye era is coming!!!"

"Abel Tesfaye era starts soon."

...revealed fans under one of Abel's most recent Instagram posts. In any new endeavours, it's anticipated the artist will rather be employing his birth name.
