If you were stuck in traffic on Montreal's Highway 20 West this weekend, you weren't alone.
Part of the highway being closed due to old concrete replacement is what led to the unusual traffic. What did this closure ultimately create? Impatient drivers, side of the road bathroom emergencies and missed flights out of the city...
One group of college students in particular felt the effects of the traffic, as they unfortunately missed their flight to Greece. What was supposed to take them 20 minutes turned into a 4-hour drive to the airport. "It was 9.5 kilometres in 4 hours. To me, that was absolutely absurd," said one of the group's students, in an interview with CTV News.
This student wasn't the only one to experience an unsually long ride. The Beat's very own Nat Lauzon experienced a 1.5 hour drive out of the city to the West Island over the weekend! Can you believe it??
Though they are looking for solutions to avoid a similar situation happening again, the Ministry of Transport warns more a lot more road work is to be expected this summer.
