Alright Montreal - we finally know why we are not getting any Taylor Swift dates in the city for her record-breaking tour.
Quebec’s Tourism Minister, Caroline Proulx, confirmed the crushing news that, let’s be honest, no Swifties really wanted to hear…
Speaking to reporters in Quebec City on Wednesday, Proulx explained that Montreal was not given the opportunity to host Taylor Swift's Eras Tour due to the poor state of the Olympic Stadium.
With the current equipment of the stadium dating back to 1976, Proulx vowed that this would never happen again.
On top of equipment issues, stadium officials said that the central part of the stadium, which is used to host major events, will be closed indefinitely to allow preparation for a new roof.
Proulx added that Quebec most likely lost around $350 million in potential tourism revenue by not hosting the Eras Tour:
"The tourist spinoff money associated with the presence of Taylor Swift in Toronto was $1,600 US per spectator; 42,000 spectators for five days, that’s $350 million that Quebec and its metropolis missed out on because we currently do not have a stadium that could put on the show."
Taylor Swift is however bringing her most anticipated Eras Tour to Canada next year with stops to Toronto and Vancouver… If you can get your hands on a pair of tickets that is!
