Lionel Richie has admitted that Sofia Richie's baby news "freaked" him out.
The iconic singer-songwriter has revealed his reaction to his daughter, 25, announcing that she is expecting her first child with her husband Elliot Grainge.
"I'm watching my baby having a baby," Lionel, 74, told Extra in an interview published on Tuesday. "Yikes! I mean, that just kind of freaked me out a little bit. But at the same time, Elliot and Sofia are such a force."
The All Night Long hitmaker added, "This little baby is gonna be souped up like you've never seen before. It's amazing."
In a separate interview with People, Lionel shared that he is "pumped up" about the exciting news.
"You know what? I am pumped up," he told the outlet. "I am now going to spoil yet another child in the world ... And I am not quite sure what the child will do to me, but I'm hoping that the child gives the parents a bit of a run, because every parent wants to get even as to what you did to me."
Lionel is already a grandfather to his eldest daughter Nicole Richie's kids, 16-year-old Harlow and 14-year-old Sparrow, who she shares with her husband Joel Madden.
Elsewhere in the interview, the musician said that Sofia will be a "fantastic" mother.
"She's going to be fantastic," he gushed. "These are two loving parents, and I don't think they really know what's coming because every kid is different. So no matter what advice I give them, there's no manual for this. They'll figure it out."
Sofia and Elliot, 30, announced that were expecting a baby girl during an interview with Vogue last Thursday. The soon-to-be parents tied the knot in April last year.
