Jay-Z has slammed the Grammys for never awarding his wife Beyoncé an Album of the Year award.

The rapper used his acceptance speech for the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award to berate The Recording Academy for snubbing his wife on several occasions.

"I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than anyone but she's never won Album of the Year," he said, as Beyoncé watched on. "Think about that: The most Grammys. Never won Album of the Year. That doesn't work. Some of you may go home and feel like you have been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don't belong in the category."

As audible boos across the theatre were heard, he added, "Sorry, when I get nervous I tell the truth."

The 99 Problems star continued, "We got to keep showing up. Keep showing up until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve. Until they call you Chairman. Until they call you genius. Until they call you the greatest of all time."

Their 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter joined the rapper on stage at the Cryto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Beyoncé has won 32 Grammys during her career. When Adele won the Best Album of the Year in 2017, she famously said Beyoncé should have won the accolade for her album Lemonade.
