Jennifer Lopez has revealed that Sean 'Diddy' Combs inspired her 2000 MTV Video Music Awards outfit.
Jennifer attended the event in September 2000 wearing white low-rise skinny jeans and a white crop top with spaghetti straps. She accessorised the look with a white bandana and a flashy belt.
In the latest instalment of Vogue's Life in Looks video series, the actress/singer revealed that she was planning to wear a formal gown before her then-boyfriend encouraged her to wear the all-white ensemble.
"This is one of those things where I had this big gown and everything," the Jenny from the Block hitmaker explained. "Diddy, at the time, who was called Puffy, was like, 'You need to just wear a pair of white jeans and a T-shirt,' and I was like, 'What?'"
After some thought, Jennifer liked the idea of wearing a casual outfit to the event.
"But I kinda liked it, so I put it on," she recalled. "My stylist gave me this bandana, and it was actually a very cool moment."
The performer continued, "I know it's MTV Awards, and I should get like real dressed up, but instead, I'm just gonna wear a pair of low-rise jeans and a cut-off tank top."
Jennifer dated the I'll Be Missing You rapper between 1999 and 2001.
