If you were thinking of using the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge this weekend, you may need to reconsider your travel plans...
The bridge will be fully closed from Friday evening until Monday morning for essential preparatory work on constructing the approaches to the new Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, according to Transport Quebec.
Highway 40 westbound will be fully closed between Exit 41 Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue/Boul. des Anciens-Combattants/ Highway 20 westbound/Île Perrot and the entrance from avenue Saint-Charles, starting from Friday, March 15, at 11:59 p.m., until Monday, March 18, at 5 a.m. However, users heading to chemin Senneville will still have access to the area during this time.
Highway 40 eastbound will be fully closed from Exit 35 – Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac/Vaudreuil-Dorion/Av. St-Charles to the entrance from Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants, starting from Friday, March 15, at 11:59 p.m., until Monday, March 18, at 5 a.m.
The bridge is set to reopen on Monday, March 18 at 5 a.m. in its current temporary setup: two lanes heading towards Vaudreuil-Dorion and one lane towards Montreal.
Transport Québec recommends consulting Québec 511 before going on the road.
