Selena Gomez has admitted she barely goes on Instagram anymore despite being the most-followed woman on the platform.

The Spring Breakers star has more than 429 million users following her account, but confessed it has often been her management posting on there as she avoids it to preserve her mental health.

According to Deadline.com, the 2024 TIME 100 Summit she said: "I took four years off of Instagram and I let my team post for me. I felt like it was the most rewarding gift I gave myself. I was more present. I was happier."

The star has been diagnosed as bipolar and has been battling her mental health issues for years, seeking out treatment at McLean Hospital in 2018 when her battle with depression and anxiety became overwhelming.

Now, instead of going on social media she connects with friends over the phone, adding: "It's more human. I think it's important to take breaks."
