Taylor Swift has reacted to the news that she’s scored her 14th number-one album.
The Tortured Poets Department made a historic debut at the top of the Billboard 200.
"My mind is blown," Swift posted on her various social media platforms. "I'm completely floored by the love you've shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed."
The Tortured Poets Department launched with 2.61 million equivalent album units earned in the US in its first week.
Swift ties with Jay-Z for the most number ones among soloists in the nearly-70-year history of the chart.
Only The Beatles, with 19 chart-toppers, have more.
Swift not only has the number one slot, but The Tortured Poets Department is also the top-selling album of 2024 so far. It also achieved the largest streaming week ever and the biggest sales week for vinyl in the modern era.
"I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can't come soon enough," shared Swift.
She took the opportunity to upload some behind-the-scenes photos from the making of the album, including snapshots with collaborators Post Malone and Florence Welch.
The pop star's ambitious 31-song collection was written, recorded and released while preparing for and embarking on The Eras Tour, which resumes in Paris on 9 May.
