Paris Hilton has declared that she was "ahead of her time" when it came to fashion.
The media personality and business mogul has opened up about "finally" getting the "credit I deserve" for her lasting impact on the fashion industry.
"When I moved to New York, I didn't have a stylist," Paris recalled in a new interview with Flaunt. "I was just very original and ahead of my time with fashion and the way I thought. I've always been a risk taker and went by what I felt."
The 43-year-old continued, "Now people come up to me and say, 'You invented Y2K fashion, you are the blueprint, you are mother!'"
After years of making headlines for her bold fashion choices, particularly in the early noughties, Paris is delighted to finally be getting the recognition she feels she deserves.
"'Look at the way Paris, socialite, is dressing, this is so out there!'" Paris said, mimicking an early 2000s tabloid. "Now I see all the things I'd get in trouble for wearing then as huge pieces on runways by the biggest designers. Now everyone's rocking it."
The Simple Life star added, "I love that people are finally giving me the credit that I deserve."
