If you were planning on doing any water activities on the Lachine Canal, we’re sorry to announce that you might have to put those plans on hold for the next few days.

Due to the heavy rain, the City of Montreal has notified Parks Canada of a water discharge at the Lachine Canal. For security reasons, all water activities such as kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and paddleboarding are prohibited until July 13 at 2 pm.

The heavy rain follows the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl, for which Environment Canada issued a special weather statement, predicting significant rainfall between 30 and 50 millimetres.
