Blake Lively recreated one of Britney Spears's iconic looks for her latest red carpet event.
Posing for photographers at the premiere of her new movie It Ends with Us in New York City on Tuesday, the actress confirmed to reporters that she was wearing the same Versace gown that the popstar sported to a runway show at Milan Fashion Week in 2002.
"It is Britney's actual dress," she gushed of the sequinned number featuring butterfly motifs. "It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it's on me. I feel so lucky!"
Blake accessorised with jewellery from Lorraine Schwartz and strappy high heels.
Following the premiere, the Gossip Girl star also took to her Instagram Stories to post a photo of Britney wearing the dress.
In the accompanying message, Blake thanked the Toxic hitmaker for providing her with endless creative inspiration.
"Todays mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories," the 36-year-old praised. "Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories."
Britney has not yet commented on Blake's outfit choice.
It Ends with Us, also starring Justin Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar, and Jenny Slate, is set to open in cinemas on Friday.
