If you're hitting the road this weekend and need to travel in or out of Montreal, it's time to plan ahead. Transport Quebec has announced a complete closure of the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, making access to Montreal and the Vaudreuil-Dorion area via Highway 40 nearly impossible.

To ease the disruption, the toll on Highway 30 will be suspended in both directions throughout the closure.

In addition, Highway 40 will be shut down in both directions between Anciens-Combattants Blvd. and St-Charles Avenue in Vaudreuil-Dorion, starting Friday at 11:59 PM and lasting until 5 AM on Monday.

The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge will reopen with its current setup: one lane for traffic in each direction, plus a third lane that will alternate direction during rush hours.
