Nicki Minaj is being sued by a disgruntled fan who claims she inflicted financial and emotional damage on him.

Tameer Peak has filed papers in the USA and is suing Starships singer Minaj for damages of $5 million (£3.8 million).

The fan - who insists he was loyal to the star for 15 years - claims the singer has inflicted reputational harm, emotional distress and financial loss upon him.

TMZ reports that Peak is suing Minaj, real name Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, 41, after she allegedly started to single him out online in 2017.

The report states Minaj has been named as a defendant in a suit filed at Los Angeles Superior Court and that Peak claims, "Nicki publicly ridiculed him, inviting him to her hotel on one occasion to film and embarrass him in front of 100,000 viewers on Instagram Live."

TMZ goes on to claim court documents state Minaj "mistreated" Peak during a 2020 Super Bowl event, and that, "Peak says Nicki later sent him a DM referring to the incident."

Peak has also claimed Minaj singled him out during an X (then Twitter) Stationhead session, where she interacted with fans, and wrote, "It's clear they're not necessarily, you know, a full basket umm at the picnic."

This comment along with another where it is claimed the singer made reference to him receiving "a check from the government" wrongfully implied he was mentally unstable and receiving welfare support, it is alleged. It is also claimed she referred to Peak as a "stalker".

Last year, Nicki issued a warning to her fans not to harass people online, writing last November, "Dear Barbz, be sure to never threaten anyone on my behalf. Whether on the internet or in person. Whether in jest or not. I don't (and) never have condoned that."
