Following the announcement of the closure of the beloved music venue La Tulipe, Montrealers gathered near Mount Royal and Papineau avenues on Thursday night to protest the decision.

The venue was forced to cease operations due to a ruling that prohibited the use of its sound system.

In response, Montreal musicians banded together, releasing an open letter on Friday morning in an effort to save La Tulipe. Over 100 artists, including musicians, comedians, and humorists, condemned the ruling that silenced the iconic concert hall, citing concerns over its impact on the city’s cultural heritage.

The letter emphasized the artists’ refusal to let cultural landmarks disappear due to legal technicalities.

Among the notable signatories were Robert Charlebois, Daniel Bélanger, Michel Rivard, Coeur de Pirate, and many more.
