Sabrina Carpenter has responded to criticism of her skimpy tour outfits.

The Espresso hitmaker can currently be seen rocking an array of provocative looks - featuring corsets, garter belts, robes, babydoll negligees, bodysuits and miniskirts - during her current Short n' Sweet Tour, which kicked off in Ohio in late September.

During a cover interview with Time magazine, the pop sensation addressed those who have taken issue with her risqué costumes.

"You'll still get the occasional mother that has a strong opinion on how you should be dressing," she shared. "And to that I just say, don't come to the show and that's OK. It's unfortunate that it's ever been something to criticise, because truthfully, the scariest thing in the world is getting up on a stage in front of that many people and having to perform as if it's nothing. If the one thing that helps you do that is the way you feel comfortable dressing, then that's what you've got to do."

Sabrina, 25, noted her pop predecessors Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera helped pave the way for her to express her femininity and sexuality through her clothes.

And while she hasn't been vilified to the quite same extent as the '90s stars, she is still on the receiving end of many complaints.

"No, I definitely get that as well," the Please Please Please hitmaker stated. "Someone told me this, whenever I would get upset or feel like I'm the only one getting criticised for something other people are able to do seemingly so freely: I'm the one that's seeing all the negative s**t about myself. My friends don't see that."

The Short n' Sweet Tour, in support of her sixth album of the same name, wraps up in the U.S. on 18 November before resuming in Europe in March 2025.
