Billboard has apologised to Taylor Swift after including a controversial clip in a video celebrating her achievements.

The publication recently ranked the Shake it Off hitmaker as the second greatest pop star of the 21st century.

However, Billboard faced backlash this week after footage from Kanye's 2016 music video Famous was included in a celebratory video documenting Taylor's achievements.

The controversial clip featured a naked waxwork of the All Too Well hitmaker lying in bed alongside the likes of Rihanna, Donald Trump and Kanye himself.

In addition to the waxwork figure, the song featured the lyric, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**ch famous."

At the time of its release, Famous and its music video were criticised for being misogynistic.

Following extreme backlash on social media since the release of the celebratory video, Billboard issued an apology to X.

"We are deeply sorry to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers that in a video celebrating Swift's achievements, we included a clip that falsely depicted her," the publication wrote. "We have removed the clip from our video and sincerely regret the harm we caused with this error."

Taylor and Kanye have been locked in a long-running feud since the Stronger rapper infamously interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs.
