Amy Adams didn't wear any make-up in public for many years per her daughter's request.

In an interview for the latest issue of People magazine, the Oscar-nominated actress recalled how her daughter Aviana, whom she shares with husband Darren Le Gallo, once asked her to forego cosmetics when she was younger.

"She didn't like me wearing make-up. She's like, 'I just want you to look like Mom, not like Amy Adams.' And I was like, 'You got it,'" she recounted. "So, there were years where I didn't wear make-up wherever we went. I mean, I sneaked some mascara. But yeah, I wouldn't wear make-up because she wanted me to be just mom."

However, Amy noted that Aviana, now 14, has asked her to improve her off-duty wardrobe.

"I'm usually the least manicured at my household. But lately, per my daughter's request, I'm working on an upgrade," the 50-year-old smiled. "She's like, 'You can't wear workout clothes if you're not working out, Mom. You can't just do the leisure part of athleisure.'"

And while Aviana has strong opinions on her mum's appearance, during an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark last week, Amy explained that she's "not sure" whether her only child will pursue a career in the arts.

"If it feeds her soul and she loves it, I'm here for it," she shared. "But so far, she has no interest."

Amy is currently promoting her film, Nightb**ch. The movie is now showing in cinemas.
