Dua Lipa was delighted to wear "more elegant" stage outfits when she recorded her concert special, An Evening with Dua Lipa.
The Houdini singer typically wears practical clothes that she can dance in on stage so she was thrilled to wear designer evening gowns when she performed reimagined versions of her hits at London's Royal Albert Hall.
"Well, performing in dresses like that was a first for me," she told Deadline. "I don't very often get to perform in beautiful gowns because I'm so used to running around on stage and being with dancers, and a lot of what I wear on stage lends itself to being able to perform in that kind of high intensity way. I felt like the night and orchestra lent itself to being able to wear something more elegant."
Dua first took to the stage in a corseted cherry-red dress by Jean Paul Gaultier with matching gloves before switching into a dramatic black gown by Chanel.
She explained to the outlet that those designs were the first ones that felt "perfect" for the occasion.
"We always knew that we were going to do two looks, maybe we had a couple other options, but these two were the first two that, when I saw the sketches, the first one being a Jean Paul Gaultier dress, and the second being Chanel, I was like 'These are the perfect dresses,'" the New Rules singer continued. "This is exactly what I want to wear, as long as I'm able to walk in them, so I can go all around the round, I'm good to go. They were perfect."
An Evening with Dua Lipa, which was recorded in October, was broadcast in the U.K. earlier this month and in the U.S. on Sunday.
She released a live album of the performance on 6 December.
