Amazon has announced plans to close its seven warehouses in Quebec, resulting in the layoff of 1,700 regular employees over the next two months.
The closures will include facilities in Laval, Lachine, and Longueuil, which are set to shut down gradually during this period.
According to an Amazon spokesperson, this decision will not impact Quebec customers. The company intends to return to a third-party model “supported by small local businesses.”
In addition to the 1,700 regular employees, the decision will affect 250 temporary seasonal workers.
