f you rent out your place on Airbnb in Montreal, there are some changes coming that you’ll want to know about!

The City of Montreal has announced new rules for short-term rentals. Starting June 10, short-term rentals in main residences will only be allowed between June 10 and September 10, and landlords will need a permit to list their space on platforms like Airbnb. From September to June, short-term rentals in main residences will no longer be allowed.

Mayor Valérie Plante says the goal is to better support Montrealers who rent, as tenants make up about 65% of the city.

These new rules officially take effect on June 10, so if you’re hosting on Airbnb, it’s good to be prepared!
