Following a tense 37-day election campaign, Canada has officially granted the Liberal Party a fourth mandate, now under the leadership of Mark Carney.
The Liberals will form a minority government, with Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives serving as the Official Opposition.
In a surprising result, Poilievre lost his Ottawa-area riding of Carleton to Liberal candidate Bruce Fanjoy.
Both Jagmeet Singh’s NDP and the Bloc Québécois suffered setbacks, securing only 7 and 23 seats respectively.
