Lizzo has recalled how she and Myke Wright were "best friends" before they started dating.

During an interview for the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast on Thursday, the About Damn Time singer - real name Melissa Jefferson - opened up about her relationship.

Explaining how she first met Wright around a decade ago, Lizzo admitted she and her beau had a "friends-to-lovers trope".

"We both worked on this one TV show, (Wonderland), for MTV. I was the music girl, he was the comedy guy," she began. "I was just like, 'He's my best friend.' I didn't have any guy friends like that - well, I did because you know I'm in the music industry. But I was like, 'Wow, I can really talk to him.'"

Lizzo went on to note that she and Myke had a "crazy bond" for years.

However, the relationship turned romantic around 2022. "I do love that we were friends first, so that means we can talk about anything," the 37-year-old continued.

"He's your best friend," Jake replied, while the Juice hitmaker agreed: "Literally."

Previously, Lizzo shared that she plans on marrying Myke one day.

"There's nobody else I'm going to be with for the rest of my life," she said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in December 2022.

Lizzo is set to drop her fifth studio album, Love in Real Life, later this year.
