Miley Cyrus has detailed how she dealt with a painful health scare.

The medical incident happened while she was co-hosting Miley's New Year's Eve Party with Dolly Parton.

"I had a pretty traumatic experience when I was doing my New Year's show," the singer said during an appearance on Wednesday's episode of The Zane Lowe Show.

"I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn't know exactly what was going on."

The Flowers hitmaker added, "It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating, and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me."

Cyrus hosted NBC's New Year's Eve celebration to ring in 2023 alongside Parton, who is her godmother.

Cyrus said the health scare made her consider walking away from the music industry, but she recalled having a discussion with Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels, who co-executive produced the special with Parton.

"I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me," she said. "He goes, 'Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild.'"

Cyrus has since regrouped and her new album, Something Beautiful, is set for release later this month.
