Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is almost here, and even though it falls on a Tuesday this year (June 24), many Montrealers will be enjoying a midweek break to take part in the festivities. As Quebec’s official national holiday, the day will bring changes to the usual schedule for government services, stores, and public transit.
Here is what will be open and closed during Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day
Open:
- Grocery stores (hours may vary)
- Atwater, Maisonneuve and Jean-Talon Markets
- Garbage, recycling, and compost will keep the usual schedules
- Ecocentres will be open on summer schedules
- The Planetarium, Biodôme, Botanical Garden, Insectarium, and Biosphère
- STM will be operating on a holiday schedule
- EXO buses will run on a Saturday schedule, while trains will run on a Sunday schedule

- Banks and financial institutions
- City of Montreal offices
- Canada Post
- Revenue Quebec
