The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has unveiled the names of the five new stations set to extend the Montreal Metro’s Blue Line—and they mark a shift in tradition. Instead of being named after nearby streets, these stations will carry the names of communities and trailblazers who have left a lasting mark on the city’s history.

Here are the new names for the future Blue Line stations:

  • Pie-IX → Vertières Station
  • Viau → Mary-Two-Axe-Earley Station
  • Lacordaire → Césira-Parisotto Station
  • Langelier → Madeleine-Parent Station
  • Terminal Station → Anjou Station

The long-awaited extension is expected to be completed by 2031.
