On Sunday, November 2, 2025, Montrealers headed to the polls and among the many candidates, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, former federal Liberal MP and cabinet minister, came out victorious as Montreal’s next mayor.
Martinez Ferrada took over as leader of Ensemble Montréal nearly seven months ago.
Following the race, Luc Rabouin finished second, while Craig Sauvé came in third.
The new mayor highlighted the city’s biggest challenges ahead — housing, affordability, and homelessness. She also pledged to support homeowners at risk of flooding, boost downtown business growth, and continue the fight against homelessness.
