If you’re reading this under a mountain of blankets in Côte-Saint-Luc or CDN-NDG, you aren’t alone. A major equipment failure has left a huge chunk of the West End in the dark the past few days, and with these "Polar Vortex" temperatures, we know how chilly it can be indoors.

The good news? Hydro crews are on-site and have already managed to flip the lights back on for a lot of residents. They’re working through the grid gradually, so if your neighbor has power and you don’t, hang tight—they’re on it!

Where to go if you’re freezing:

Since it is absolutely freezing out there, public safety officials aren’t taking any chances. A warming center has been set up at 5347 Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges. If your home is getting too cold, grab your charger and a book and head over there to stay safe and warm while the grid gets fixed.

Check your status Want to know exactly when your morning coffee (or evening Netflix) is coming back? Your best bet is to head over to the Info-Pannes map on the Hydro Quebec website.

Pro tip: Don't just look at the general area—type in your specific address to get the most accurate update for your front door.

Stay safe, check in on your neighbors, and let’s hope everyone is back on the grid before the sun goes down!
