Pitbull plans to attempt a Guinness World Record at his upcoming BST Hyde Park concert in London.

In recent years, fans have turned up to the Give Me Everything rapper's shows dressed in his likeness, sporting bald caps, aviator sunglasses, black suits and his trademark facial hair.

Now the artist is hoping to turn the viral trend into an official record. At his headline performance in Hyde Park on 10 July, he will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps.

Festival organisers confirmed the attempt on Tuesday, announcing on Instagram, "It's official. Let's make history."

The post continued, "After the idea was championed by @gregjames on @BBCR1, we're on a mission to secure a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps and Pitbull needs YOU there in London's Hyde Park on Friday 10 July. Let's have a real good time!"

The organisers gave further information on the BST website, adding, "We ask that all participants must wear bald caps secured firmly on the head, with hair tucked under at the front and top (hair may hang from the back)."

The trend first gained momentum around 2021, with fans regularly dressing up as the Hotel Room Service hitmaker for concerts and costume parties.

Speaking previously to the BBC, Pitbull said he was moved by the phenomenon, stating, "Every time I'm at a show, I let them know that when you put on a bald cap, I hope you're ready to have the time of your lives - it feels deeper than just music. It's the ultimate trophy to be able to go on stage and see all the hard work that you put into the music."

Pitbull's BST Hyde Park appearance follows a run of U.S. dates, including a slot at the Stagecoach Music Festival in California from 24 to 26 April, before further performances across Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona and Utah.

Other artists set to perform at BST Hyde Park this year include Lewis Capaldi, Mumford & Sons, Maroon 5 and Garth Brooks.
