Are you getting ready to renew your passport soon, Montreal? If so, you might want to move that task to the top of your to-do list. The federal government recently announced that Canada will implement new pricing for its passport fees starting March 31, 2026.

The good news is that the shift isn’t massive, most fees are increasing by about 2.7% to keep up with inflation, but if you’re renewing for a whole family, those extra bucks can certainly add up.

If you are applying from within the country, here is exactly what you can expect to pay starting at the end of the month:

  • Ten-year adult passport: $164.32 (up from $160)
  • Five-year adult passport: $123.24 (up from $120)
  • Child passport: $58.53 (up from $57)

However, for Canadians currently living or traveling outside of the country, the fees look a little different. If you are applying from abroad, the rates will be:

  • Ten-year adult passport: $267.02 (up from $260)
  • Five-year adult passport: $195.13 (up from $190)
  • Child passport: $102.70 (up from $100)

So, if you're looking to travel outside of the country in 2026 and your document is expiring, better get it done now and keep that extra money in your pocket!
