Daniel Caesar, Cameron Whitcomb and The Beaches have taken the final trophies at the 55th annual Juno Awards.

The ceremony took place across two evenings in Hamilton over the weekend.

On Sunday night, R&B star Caesar won the gongs for International Achievement Award and Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year for Son of Spergy.

"Thank you! This is Spergy!" he enthused, hugging his dad.

It was also a big evening for American Idol alum and country star Cameron Whitcomb, who was named Breakthrough Artist and made his stage debut with a high-energy performance of his addiction song, Options.

Rock group The Beaches made Juno history with their win for Group of the Year, becoming the first all-women group to pull off a three-peat in the category.

Legendary band Rush performed publicly for the first time with new drummer, Anika Nilles.

At the Saturday night event, the biggest winner was pop star Tate McRae, who was absent from the gala, but won Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Pop Album of the Year. She beat Justin Bieber, who was also absent, but received no awards for his comeback album Swag II.

Nelly Furtado was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame via video by Drake, and was serenaded with a medley of her hits.

To end the evening, Joni Mitchell received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Prime Minister Mark Carney.
