James McAvoy has revealed he has a four-year-old son.
The Band of Brothers star and his wife Lisa Liberati kept their parenthood journey under wraps for years.
James, 46, revealed he had become a father for the second time in a wide-ranging interview published in The Guardian on Tuesday.
The actor explained the experience had been very different from when he welcomed Brandon, his first child - the now-teenaged son whom he shares with ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff.
"Having a kid at 42 is definitely easier in some ways," James told the outlet. "I worry less. I'm a bit more philosophical. But it's also harder, because you're just older and tireder."
Having confirmed in 2022 that he and Lisa, also 46, were married, it took the BAFTA winner another four years to make the arrival of his second son public knowledge.
While the Scotsman and his American entrepreneur wife live mostly in London, he shared they also reside "a wee bit in Philly" - Philadelphia, where much of her family lives and which James described as "like a second home for me".
Elsewhere in the interview, James - whose directorial debut California Schemin' is scheduled for UK release on 6 April - lamented the lack of film output coming from his home country.
"I'm not saying that we don't make enough for me or we don't make enough to compete with America," he explained.
"It's not about that. I don't think we make enough to be able to satisfy the cultural needs of the 6 million people that live in this country."
