New toonie, who dis?

A glowing new toonie has just entered circulation in Canada, and honestly, we want to get our hands on it right away!

Released on March 31, 2026, the coin commemorates the 50th anniversary of the CN Tower. While there is a standard version, the colourized edition features glow-in-the-dark technology... Only the second time the Royal Canadian Mint has used this effect on a circulation coin.

To see the tower light up, you’ll need to expose the coin to natural light or UV rays and then head somewhere dark. Just a heads up: your phone flashlight won’t be strong enough to charge the effect!

You can purchase special wrap rolls of the coin right here.
