Your monthly STM pass is about to cost more! The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) has announced that public transit fares throughout the Greater Montreal Area will increase by approximately three per cent starting July 1.

According to the ARTM, the increase aims to balance affordability for riders with the long-term sustainability of the regional networks.

Monthly passes will rise by $5.50 for the regular rate, while those on reduced fares will see an increase of $3.25. Fortunately for occasional riders, there are no changes to single-fare prices, including two-trip tickets and all-mode fares.

However, there is a specific change for commuters using the new light rail system: as of July 1, riders will need to purchase standard All-Mode fares for any trips that involve both the REM and bus networks.
