New loonie, who dis?!

The Royal Canadian Mint has just released a new FIFA World Cup 2026 commemorative $1 coin. This new coin marks the first time in the tournament's history that Canada is hosting matches!

The coin, which was designed by Canadian artist Glen Green, features a reverse side built around the top portion of the FIFA26 CAN maple leaf mosaic. To the left, a soccer ball is shown in motion, alongside engravings of “Toronto” and “Vancouver” to honor the two host cities.

Two versions have been created: a vibrant, coloured edition and a standard version without any colour.
