Britney Spears has debuted a sleek new hairstyle.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton posted a selfie of himself and the Toxic hitmaker, who was holding up a bundle of curling tongs.

In the snap, Britney appears to have had her hair freshly highlighted and styled poker-straight, with a middle parting.

The Princess of Pop has not yet commented on her makeover.

However, Chris posted an emotional message thanking Britney for trusting him with her hair.

"As a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments. Never in a million years did I think I'd one day be standing behind the chair (or in this case her standing behind mine, lol) styling her hair," he wrote. "Some moments really do come full circle."

Chris, who is a go-to hairstylist for the likes of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, went on to describe the 44-year-old as "one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls I've ever met".

Accordingly, the post quickly racked up over 150,000 likes.

"This is what the world needs," declared reality TV star Chrishell Stause.

Britney's new look comes around a month after she checked out of rehab.

In April, the pop icon's representative confirmed she had gone to a facility after she was arrested in Ventura County, California on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) the previous month.

At a later court hearing, Britney's lawyer pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving on her behalf. She was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to complete a three-month DUI programme.
