Is it really summer in Montreal if there aren't major thunderstorms rolling through in the middle of the day along with the risk of a tornado?
Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the city today. According to the alert, utility outages are possible, as is damage to roofs, fences, tree branches, and soft shelters.
Any severe thunderstorms that develop could produce strong wind gusts, hail, and heavy rain.
The statement reminds residents that “when thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.”
Showers and the risk of thunderstorms are expected to begin around 3 PM today.
